This crucial role involves operating a company-provided vehicle to transport goods safely, efficiently, and punctually to various destinations within St. Ann and surrounding parishes. Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations.
- Load, unload, and secure items properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify cargo against delivery manifests and obtain customer signatures upon delivery.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries, adjusting as needed for traffic or road conditions.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Provide exceptional customer service during interactions at delivery points.
- Adhere to all local traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Handle cash or other forms of payment as required, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Minimum Group 3 or equivalent)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 3 years
- Proven experience in logistics, delivery, or commercial driving
- Excellent knowledge of St. Ann and surrounding parishes' road networks
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of reliability and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications
- Defensive driving certification
- Experience with route optimization software or GPS navigation systems
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (vans, trucks)
