Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations within Kingston and surrounding areas.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan and optimize daily routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries, utilizing navigation tools as needed.
- Verify accuracy of shipment contents against delivery manifests or invoices.
- Collect payments, obtain customer signatures, and issue receipts as required.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle maintenance records, and other required documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and transportation regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, addressing inquiries professionally.
- Assist with warehouse duties or other operational tasks as needed during periods of low delivery volume.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (e.g., Class C or F) in Jamaica with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 1 year of professional driving or delivery experience.
- Thorough knowledge of Kingston's geography and major routes.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs consistently.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience with route optimization software or GPS navigation systems.
- Certification in Defensive Driving or similar safety training.
