Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle for the transportation of goods and personnel.
- Plan and execute efficient delivery routes within Montego Bay and surrounding areas, optimizing for time and fuel efficiency.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling, securing of items, and adherence to weight limits to prevent damage.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or damage promptly to management.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage logs, delivery receipts, fuel consumption, and vehicle service schedules.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, clients, and internal staff regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen issues.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations, including those related to cargo transportation.
- Ensure the cleanliness, tidiness, and presentable condition of the company vehicle at all times.
- Assist with warehouse duties, inventory checks, or other operational tasks as needed during non-driving periods.
- Handle delivery documentation meticulously, including signing for goods, obtaining client signatures upon delivery, and verifying item counts.
Required Skills
- Valid General Driver's License (Class C or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in logistics, delivery, or professional driving.
- Excellent knowledge of Montego Bay and surrounding area road networks and traffic patterns.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle checks and routine maintenance (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure).
- Physical fitness to load/unload goods, lift and carry packages, and perform repetitive movements.
- High level of punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
- Problem-solving abilities to navigate unexpected situations (e.g., traffic congestion, road closures, challenging delivery locations).
