Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport goods, materials, and potentially personnel across Mauritius.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform minor routine checks (e.g., tire pressure, fluid levels).
- Accurately record mileage, fuel consumption, delivery logs, and other relevant documentation.
- Load and unload goods carefully, ensuring proper securing to prevent damage during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, clients, and internal teams regarding delivery status and potential issues.
- Follow assigned delivery schedules and optimized routes to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, incidents, or accidents immediately to management.
- Assist with warehouse operations, such as sorting or packing, when required and time permits.
Required Skills
- Valid Mauritian Driving License (e.g., for light/heavy vehicles as appropriate)
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 5 years
- Minimum 2 years of proven professional driving experience in a logistics or similar environment
- Excellent knowledge of Mauritius road networks and traffic regulations
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 25 kg) and perform prolonged periods of driving
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to adhere to schedules
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and routine maintenance checks
- High level of punctuality, reliability, and responsibility
- Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Secondary School Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Experience operating various types of commercial vehicles (e.g., vans, light trucks)
