Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for drywall application, ensuring they are impeccably clean, dry, and free of defects.
- Measure, cut, and install drywall sheets accurately and efficiently according to project specifications.
- Apply tape and joint compound to seams and corners with precision, creating smooth, seamless transitions.
- Perform multiple coats of joint compound, meticulously sanding between coats to achieve a flawless, paint-ready finish.
- Texture walls and ceilings using various techniques (e.g., knockdown, popcorn, orange peel) as required by design plans.
- Inspect finished surfaces for any imperfections and make necessary repairs or touch-ups to ensure perfection.
- Ensure all work consistently complies with stringent health, safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times, adhering to site regulations.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with other tradespeople and project managers on-site.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Drywall Finisher or Taper & Jointer.
- Demonstrable proficiency in various drywall finishing techniques, including taping, mudding, and meticulous sanding.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen, discerning eye for achieving superior quality finishes.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Excellent manual dexterity, physical stamina, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety procedures and the proper, safe use of tools and equipment.
- Valid UK driving license and access to reliable transportation for site travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Plastering or Drylining.
- Possession of a valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Extensive experience with a wide variety of texturing techniques and finishes.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and contribute positively as part of a larger team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to overcome unforeseen site challenges.
