Job Description

Career.zycto is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an Early Childhood Education Trainee to join our vibrant team in Okotoks, Alberta. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about child development, eager to learn, and committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children. As a trainee, you will work closely under the guidance of experienced Early Childhood Educators, gaining invaluable hands-on experience across all aspects of childcare and early learning programs. This position is designed to provide comprehensive training, allowing you to develop essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in early childhood education. You will be instrumental in assisting with daily activities, observing child behavior, implementing educational play, and contributing to a safe and inclusive setting. We are looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a genuine love for working with children to our growing team. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified Early Childhood Educators in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational activities.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support children with daily routines, including meal times, nap times, and hygiene practices.
  • Observe and document children's development and behavior under supervision.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children, fostering positive relationships.
  • Adhere to all licensing regulations and company policies regarding child care.
  • Learn and apply best practices in early childhood education and child guidance.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Basic understanding of child development stages (beneficial, but not required to start).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or interest in pursuing an Early Childhood Education program.
  • Previous volunteer or paid experience working with children (e.g., babysitting, camp counselor).
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (upon offer).
