Job Description
Capital Group is seeking a highly skilled and exceptionally creative Editor (Video/Photo) to join our vibrant Media Content team in Upper Hill, Nairobi. This crucial role involves transforming raw footage and static images into polished, engaging, and high-impact visual narratives for various platforms, including broadcast, web, and social media. You will be instrumental in maintaining our brand’s visual identity, ensuring all content adheres to our high standards of quality, accuracy, and creative vision. The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of visual storytelling, and expert proficiency in industry-standard editing software. You will collaborate closely with producers, journalists, and marketing teams to bring compelling stories to life, ranging from fast-paced news segments and live event coverage to in-depth features, mini-documentaries, and promotional material. Key Responsibilities
- Edit raw video footage into polished, engaging, and broadcast-ready content, ensuring continuity, pacing, and visual appeal across various platforms.
- Select, edit, and retouch still photographs to meet specific project requirements and align with brand guidelines and artistic vision.
- Collaborate effectively with producers, directors, journalists, and content creators to understand project vision and translate it into compelling visual stories.
- Incorporate motion graphics, special effects, music, and sound effects to enhance visual narratives and elevate production quality.
- Ensure all edited content aligns with Capital Group's brand standards, editorial guidelines, and technical specifications for diverse distribution platforms (TV, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, website, etc.).
- Manage and organize media assets efficiently, maintaining a well-structured and accessible library of footage, images, and project files.
- Stay updated with the latest editing software, techniques, and industry trends to continuously improve content quality, efficiency, and creative output.
- Perform meticulous color correction, audio mixing, and basic sound design as needed to achieve a professional final product.
- Participate actively in brainstorming sessions, contributing creative ideas for new content formats, visual approaches, and storytelling techniques.
- Meet tight deadlines consistently while maintaining the highest standard of work quality under pressure.
Required Skills
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong command of visual storytelling principles and narrative techniques.
- Excellent understanding of video and photo editing workflows, including all aspects of post-production.
- Demonstrable experience with color grading, audio editing, and motion graphics (e.g., Adobe After Effects).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic and fast-paced media environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics, composition, and visual impact.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of receiving and implementing feedback effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks efficiently, and adapt to changing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a closely related field.
- Experience with other professional editing software such as DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
- Familiarity with camera operation, studio lighting techniques, and general production principles.
- Experience working in a newsroom or a rapidly evolving media content creation environment.
- Knowledge of digital rights management, copyright considerations, and media licensing.
- Proven ability to create engaging short-form and vertical content specifically optimized for social media platforms.
