Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Officer specializing in Planning and Development to join our dedicated team in Curepipe, Mauritius. This pivotal role will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing educational initiatives that align with national development goals and our organization’s mission to foster lifelong learning. The successful candidate will play a critical role in all phases of program development, from initial needs assessment and strategic planning to curriculum design, resource mobilization, and evaluation. You will work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government bodies, educational institutions, community leaders, and internal teams, to ensure the successful execution and sustainability of our educational projects. This position demands a forward-thinking individual with a deep understanding of educational methodologies, policy frameworks, and project management principles. You will be expected to conduct thorough research, analyze educational trends, and propose innovative solutions to address learning gaps and enhance educational outcomes across diverse demographics. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and development of new educational programs and initiatives from conceptualization to implementation.
  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, research, and data analysis to identify educational gaps and opportunities.
  • Develop detailed program proposals, including objectives, outcomes, budgets, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Design and review curriculum content, learning materials, and assessment strategies to ensure relevance, quality, and alignment with pedagogical best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration and execution of educational projects.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential challenges, and develop proactive solutions to ensure timely and effective delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on program performance, impact, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of national and international educational policies, trends, and innovations to inform strategic planning.
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder consultations to foster engagement and gather input.
  • Contribute to the development of funding proposals and grant applications to secure resources for educational initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills for needs assessment and policy analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French (Creole is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Planning, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international development organizations or NGOs in the education sector.
  • Familiarity with the Mauritian education system and policy landscape.
