Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for designing and implementing state-of-the-art building installations? This pivotal role involves leading the design, specification, and supervision of electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, and industrial projects. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, and tender documents for building services including power distribution, lighting, extra-low voltage (ELV) systems, and specialized installations.
- Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and prepare comprehensive technical reports to inform design decisions and project planning.
- Perform intricate load calculations, fault level analysis, voltage drop calculations, and protection coordination studies for various projects.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring strict adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure project requirements are met and issues are resolved efficiently.
- Prepare comprehensive project schedules, diligently monitor progress, manage budgets, and ensure timely project delivery within scope.
- Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and as-built documentation for full compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
- Implement sustainable and energy-efficient electrical solutions, actively integrating renewable energy sources and smart building technologies where applicable.
- Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in electrical building services design and installation.
- Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, DIALux, ETAP) and strong computer literacy.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan electrical codes and standards (e.g., ERC, KEBS) and international standards (e.g., BS, IEC, NFPA).
- Proven experience in project management and hands-on site supervision of electrical installations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related specialized field.
- Experience with sustainable building design principles (e.g., LEED, EDGE certification).
- Prior experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, or mixed-use developments.
- PMP or other relevant project management certification.
