Job Description
Nyagah Construction Company Limited is actively seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and safety-conscious Electrical Wiring Technician to join our dynamic project teams across Embu County, Kenya. As a pivotal member of our construction and maintenance divisions, you will be responsible for the precise and safe installation, routine maintenance, comprehensive troubleshooting, and efficient repair of complex electrical wiring systems and components. This encompasses a diverse range of environments, including new residential developments, commercial establishments, and industrial facilities. You will be expected to work collaboratively with project managers, electrical engineers, and other skilled tradespersons, ensuring that all electrical installations not only meet but exceed national electrical codes, stringent safety regulations, and precise project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant electrical codes and project blueprints.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications to determine layout of wiring systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, power outages, and faulty equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and extend lifespan.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Ensure all electrical installations meet safety standards and local regulations.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including engineers, plumbers, and carpenters, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports on work performed, materials used, and time spent.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols.
- Mentor junior technicians and apprentices as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Electrical Wiring Technician.
- Strong knowledge of the Kenya Electrical Wiring Regulations (KEWR) and other relevant safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Expertise in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and components.
- Familiarity with various electrical tools and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for hands-on work in various environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Valid wireman's license or equivalent certification.
- Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid driving license (Class BCE preferred).
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for reporting and documentation.
