Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to join our team on a contract basis, specializing in residential wiring projects within the Christiana, Manchester area. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety, functionality, and compliance of electrical systems in new residential constructions and renovation projects. As a contractor, you will be responsible for executing all phases of residential electrical installations, from initial wiring layout to final fixture installation and testing. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute complete electrical wiring installations for new residential homes and renovation projects, adhering to blueprints and specifications.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
- Perform load calculations, install distribution panels, circuit breakers, outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct thorough testing of electrical systems to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant codes and regulations (e.g., NEC, JPS standards).
- Ensure all work meets Surrey Paving's quality standards and project timelines.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, other contractors, and construction teams.
- Maintain a safe working environment, strictly adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Provide accurate estimates for materials and labor for electrical components of projects.
- Keep detailed records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Residential Electrician or similar role.
- Vocational training or certification in Electrical Installation from an accredited institution.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local Jamaican electrical regulations (e.g., JPS standards).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Own a comprehensive set of electrical tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent.
- Experience with smart home technology integration.
