Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrician with a strong focus on wiring and installation to join our dynamic team in Terre Rouge, Pamplemousses District. As an Electrician at Sicom Ltd, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant electrical systems across our various construction and infrastructure projects. This role requires a professional who is proficient in all aspects of electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, adhering strictly to national electrical codes and company safety standards. You will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, executing precise wiring layouts, installing fixtures and control systems, and performing diagnostic tests to guarantee optimal functionality. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a proactive problem-solving approach, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced construction environment. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures on various construction sites and facilities.
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine optimal wiring layouts and component placement.
- Execute the installation of electrical conduits, cables, control panels, circuit breakers, outlets, and other electrical components.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure their reliability and safety.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and system failures using appropriate testing devices.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations in Mauritius.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, other trades, and team members to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior electricians or apprentices as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in electrical wiring, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, circuit testers).
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for electrical faults.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, lift heavy equipment, and work in various conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Holder of a relevant vocational training certificate or diploma in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Valid Electrician's license or certification recognized in Mauritius.
- Experience with industrial electrical systems and control wiring.
- Proficiency in both English and French (Creole proficiency is a plus).
