Job Description

As an Entry-Level EMT, you will be on the front lines, responding to emergency calls, providing immediate medical care, and transporting patients safely to medical facilities. Your role is crucial in assessing patient conditions, administering basic life support, and assisting paramedics when advanced interventions are necessary. Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide pre-hospital emergency medical care to sick and injured patients.
- Assess patient condition, interpret vital signs, and administer basic life support interventions, including CPR, bandaging, splinting, and oxygen administration.
- Safely lift, move, and transport patients to appropriate medical facilities, ensuring comfort and stability.
- Accurately document patient care, observations, and interventions in accordance with medical and legal standards.
- Maintain all assigned equipment, vehicles, and medical supplies in a state of readiness and cleanliness.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and other emergency responders.
- Adhere strictly to all departmental policies, procedures, medical protocols, and safety guidelines.
- Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid EMT-Basic certification (NREMT and/or Kansas State EMT certification)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC)
- Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure
- Physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment (up to 150 lbs with assistance)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or public service setting (volunteer or paid)
- Familiarity with the Dodge City, Kansas geographical area
- Additional certifications in advanced first aid or emergency response
