Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Energy Consultant to join our dynamic team at Fairview Farm. This critical role involves leading our efforts to optimize energy consumption, identify cost-saving opportunities, and integrate renewable energy solutions across all farm operations. As our Energy Consultant, you will conduct comprehensive energy audits, analyze current usage patterns, and develop tailored strategies to enhance efficiency in irrigation systems, farm machinery, processing units, and residential facilities on the farm. You will be instrumental in designing and overseeing the implementation of solar power systems, bio-digesters, and other sustainable energy technologies, ensuring they are robust, cost-effective, and aligned with our agricultural production cycles. This position demands a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and practical application, as you will work closely with farm management and operations teams to embed energy-conscious practices into our daily routines. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed energy audits across all farm operations, including irrigation, livestock housing, crop processing, and administrative buildings.
  • Analyze energy consumption data to identify inefficiencies, wastage, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive energy management plans and strategies tailored to Fairview Farm’s specific needs.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend suitable renewable energy solutions such as solar PV, solar thermal, biomass, or wind power.
  • Oversee the design, procurement, and installation of new energy systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and best practices.
  • Monitor the performance of installed energy systems, providing regular reports on energy savings and return on investment.
  • Train farm staff on energy-efficient practices and the operation of new energy technologies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging energy technologies, government incentives, and best practices in agricultural energy management.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and feasibility studies for proposed energy projects.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies as needed.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy auditing, energy management, or renewable energy project development.
  • Proven experience with solar PV system design and implementation in agricultural or industrial settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in energy modeling software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of sustainable practices and environmental impact assessment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar professional certification.
  • Experience with bio-digester technology or other biomass energy solutions.
