Key Responsibilities

  • Assist videographers with camera setup, operation, and breakdown during shoots.
  • Manage and organize camera equipment, ensuring all gear is accounted for and well-maintained.
  • Set up and adjust lighting and audio equipment according to production requirements.
  • Handle data wrangling, including transferring, backing up, and organizing footage post-shoot.
  • Prepare shooting locations, ensuring safety protocols are followed and necessary permits are in place.
  • Provide on-set support to talent and crew, including fetching props, managing craft services, and general errands.
  • Support post-production efforts by logging footage, preparing project files, and assisting with basic editing tasks.
  • Learn and apply best practices for video production, camera operation, lighting, and sound.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, communicating clearly and contributing positively to the production environment.

Required Skills

  • Basic knowledge of video cameras and associated equipment (lenses, tripods, stabilizers).
  • Fundamental understanding of lighting and audio recording principles.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • Physical stamina to lift and carry camera equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proactive attitude and a strong eagerness to learn new skills.
  • Reliable transportation to various shoot locations within Nutana, Saskatoon and surrounding areas.
  • Proficiency with common computer software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Film Production, Broadcasting, Media Arts, or a related field.
  • Prior experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve) is a plus.
  • A portfolio showcasing personal or student video projects.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or production-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of photography principles and practices.
