Career.zycto is actively seeking a diligent and experienced Environmental Compliance Analyst to join our dynamic team in Lougheed, Burnaby. This pivotal role involves ensuring adherence to a wide array of environmental regulations, permits, and standards across various projects and operations. You will be instrumental in interpreting complex environmental legislation, developing robust compliance strategies, and supporting our clients or internal teams in achieving their environmental objectives while minimizing their footprint. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mind, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for environmental protection. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations, permits, and standards relevant to projects and operations.
  • Conduct thorough environmental compliance audits and inspections, identifying areas of non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive environmental reports, applications, and documentation to regulatory bodies within established deadlines.
  • Develop and implement Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to project teams and clients on environmental best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor environmental performance metrics, analyze data, and identify trends to proactively address potential issues.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies during inspections, investigations, and permit applications.
  • Stay current with changes in environmental legislation and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental compliance or a related role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal (e.g., CEPA, Fisheries Act) and British Columbia provincial environmental regulations (e.g., Environmental Management Act).
  • Proven ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and translate them into practical actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional designation (e.g., EP, P.Eng, P.Geo).
  • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
  • Familiarity with environmental software or data management platforms.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment or with diverse industrial clients.
