Career.zycto is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Environmental Scientist to join our dedicated team in Salisbury, MD. In this dynamic role, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of environmental projects. This includes conducting initial site assessments, meticulously collecting environmental samples (soil, water, air, sediment), and utilizing advanced analytical techniques to interpret findings. You will be responsible for preparing detailed technical reports, crafting robust regulatory compliance documents, and managing permit applications that adhere to federal, state, and local guidelines. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive environmental site assessments, including Phase I and Phase II investigations, soil, groundwater, and air quality sampling, and ecological surveys.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret complex environmental data using various scientific methodologies, statistical software, and GIS tools.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, regulatory compliance documents, permit applications, and proposals that are clear, concise, and scientifically sound.
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management plans, remediation strategies, and pollution prevention programs tailored to client needs and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, MDEQ, RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, NEPA).
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies to define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables.
- Participate in client meetings, present project findings, and provide expert environmental consultation and recommendations.
- Stay current with emerging environmental science trends, innovative technologies, and changes in environmental policy and regulation through continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive professional experience in environmental consulting or a related industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in environmental data collection, analysis, and interpretation, including field sampling techniques.
- Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, NEPA, TSCA).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical report writing, presentations, and effective client interaction.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently to various project sites, sometimes requiring overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
- Professional certification (e.g., Professional Geologist (P.G.), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)) or actively working towards one.
- Advanced experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro) for mapping, spatial analysis, and data visualization.
- Familiarity with environmental modeling software or advanced statistical analysis tools.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current refresher training.
- Experience with proposal writing and business development activities.
