Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Equipment Maintenance Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Voi, Taita-Taveta County. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a diverse range of mechanical equipment critical to our operations, including company vehicles, generators, heavy machinery, and specialized electrical infrastructure support equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on various mechanical equipment, including company vehicles, generators, compressors, and specialized tools according to established schedules and procedures.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot malfunctions, and identify root causes of equipment failures using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and personal expertise.
- Execute repairs, overhauls, and replacements of faulty components, ensuring equipment is restored to optimal working condition and in compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential problems before they escalate, maintaining comprehensive service records and logs.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards during maintenance and repair operations, prioritizing personal and team safety.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including parts used, time spent, and equipment performance, utilizing our maintenance management system.
- Collaborate effectively with other technicians, engineers, and operational staff to improve maintenance procedures and enhance overall equipment reliability.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide effective solutions to minimize operational disruptions and ensure swift restoration of service.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to equipment, processes, and safety practices, fostering innovation within the team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Proficiency in operating diagnostic equipment and various hand and power tools.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
