Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly vigilant, professional, and dedicated Estate Security Officer to join our esteemed team. This pivotal full-time role involves safeguarding residents, property, and valuable assets within a prominent residential estate located in Satellite Town, Lagos. We are searching for an individual who possesses an unwavering sense of responsibility, exceptional observation skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a secure and serene environment. Your primary objective will be to deter unlawful activities, respond promptly and effectively to any incidents, and consistently uphold the highest standards of safety and peace within the community you serve. This position demands a keen eye for detail, the ability to act decisively under pressure, and a strong commitment to ethical conduct. As a key member of our security operations, you will be instrumental in creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all residents and visitors, fostering trust and confidence in the estate’s security measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular and thorough patrols of the estate's perimeter, common areas, and designated internal sections to detect and prevent unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, and other criminal activities.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras (CCTV) and alarm systems diligently, responding swiftly and effectively to any alerts, suspicious activities, or breaches observed.
  • Control and manage access points, verifying the identity of all visitors, contractors, and vehicles, and ensuring strict adherence to established entry and exit procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed daily logs of security-related incidents, observations, and activities, preparing comprehensive reports for management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, security breaches, and other critical situations, coordinating effectively with relevant emergency services as required.
  • Enforce all estate rules and regulations, ensuring compliance among residents and visitors to maintain order, discipline, and a harmonious living environment.
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to residents and visitors when necessary, offering directions, information, and support while maintaining a high level of decorum.
  • Conduct thorough security checks of properties, vehicles, and facilities as needed, identifying and reporting any vulnerabilities or potential security issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow security personnel, estate management, and local law enforcement agencies to continuously enhance overall security measures and intelligence sharing.
  • Actively participate in mandatory security training programs and emergency drills to stay updated on best practices, evolving threats, and refined emergency response protocols.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 2 years as a Security Officer or in a similar protective services role, preferably within an estate or residential complex.
  • Strong observational acumen and superior problem-solving skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with diverse individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, composed, and effective under pressure, especially during emergency or high-stress situations.
  • Proficiency in operating various security equipment, including CCTV systems, walkie-talkies, access control systems, and basic alarm monitoring software.
  • Fundamental knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • High level of integrity, unwavering professionalism, and strict adherence to ethical conduct.
  • Good physical fitness and the stamina required to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of relevant security certifications (e.g., ASIS, certified security professional, or equivalent local certifications).
  • Previous experience with a reputable security firm, law enforcement agency, or military service.
  • Familiarity with the Satellite Town area and the local security landscape.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in multiple local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa) in addition to English.
