Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a talented and highly motivated ETL Developer with flexible hours to join our growing data team in Auburn, Sydney. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient ETL processes that extract, transform, and load data from various source systems into our data warehouse and data lakes. You will work closely with data architects, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility for reporting, analytics, and machine learning initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable ETL solutions using various ETL tools and programming languages.
  • Collaborate with data architects and business users to gather and understand data requirements, translating them into technical specifications.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for ETL processes, data mappings, and data flow diagrams.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing ETL jobs for performance, reliability, and data integrity.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency of loaded data.
  • Develop and maintain data warehouse schemas, data models, and dimensional structures.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy policies.
  • Automate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes using scripting and scheduling tools.
  • Conduct thorough unit and integration testing of ETL routines and contribute to user acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to data analysts and other team members on data availability and access.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in data warehousing and ETL.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure and data management strategies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience as an ETL Developer or Data Engineer.
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Extensive experience with at least one major ETL tool (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend, DataStage, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue).
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and OLAP.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for data manipulation and automation.
  • Solid understanding of data quality principles and data governance best practices.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and optimize complex data pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for data solutions.
