Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Evening Care Lead to join our vibrant team near Edinburgh Airport. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of care assistants during the evening shift, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care.
  • Oversee the safe administration of medication, maintaining accurate records and adhering to all protocols.
  • Develop and update individual care plans, ensuring they reflect the evolving needs and preferences of residents.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, incidents, and unforeseen situations, demonstrating calm and decisive leadership.
  • Provide direct personal care, emotional support, and companionship to residents as required.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for families and external healthcare professionals during evening hours.
  • Monitor residents' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate channels.
  • Ensure all care documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support new team members through mentorship and guidance, fostering a positive working environment.
  • Uphold the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a senior care or lead care role (minimum 3 years)
  • Strong leadership and team supervision abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in medication administration and recording (certified)
  • Ability to make informed decisions and act calmly in emergency situations
  • Sound understanding of care planning and risk assessment
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care
  • Ability to work flexible evening hours, including weekends and public holidays as needed
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or SVQ Level 3) in Health & Social Care or equivalent
  • Experience working with diverse resident populations, including dementia care
  • First Aid certification
  • Driving license with access to a vehicle
