Career.zycto is seeking a talented Part-Time Event Decorator to join our network, collaborating with various clients across Turkana County to bring their event visions to life. In this dynamic role, you will be instrumental in designing, setting up, and dismantling decorative elements for a diverse range of events, including weddings, corporate functions, social gatherings, and community celebrations. We are looking for someone who thrives on creativity, possesses excellent organizational skills, and has a keen eye for aesthetics.
As an Event Decorator, you will work closely with clients to understand their themes, preferences, and budget, translating their ideas into captivating décor concepts. This involves everything from conceptualizing color schemes and floral arrangements to selecting props, lighting, and drapery. Your ability to visualize the end result and meticulously plan each detail will be crucial to your success. You will be responsible for sourcing appropriate materials, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring all decorative elements are prepared and ready for installation.
On event days, your primary focus will be on the precise and timely setup of all décor according to the approved design plan. This requires a hands-on approach, often involving physical labor, problem-solving on the spot, and effective team coordination. Post-event, you will also oversee the efficient dismantling and packing of decorations, ensuring all items are accounted for and stored properly. Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to understand event themes, preferences, and budget requirements.
- Develop innovative and visually appealing décor concepts and proposals.
- Create detailed mood boards, sketches, or 3D renderings to present design ideas.
- Source and procure decorative materials, props, lighting, furniture, and floral elements.
- Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery and setup of rental items.
- Manage inventory of décor items and ensure proper storage and maintenance.
- Lead the on-site setup and installation of all decorative elements before events.
- Ensure all décor aligns with safety standards and client expectations.
- Oversee the efficient dismantling, packing, and removal of decorations post-event.
- Maintain awareness of current event décor trends and incorporate new ideas.
- Collaborate effectively with event planners, venue staff, and other service providers.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in event decoration, floral design, or a related creative field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing diverse event décor projects.
- Excellent artistic eye and strong sense of aesthetics, color theory, and spatial arrangement.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients to understand their vision.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to handle and transport decorative items, and perform setup/teardown.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for event sites within Turkana County.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or degree in Event Management, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related discipline.
- Experience with large-scale corporate or public events.
- Knowledge of local vendors and suppliers in Turkana County.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Swahili).
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
