Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and event planners to understand their vision, theme, and budget for events.
  • Develop innovative and cohesive design concepts, mood boards, and detailed proposals for event décor.
  • Source, procure, and manage decorative elements including florals, linens, lighting, furniture, props, and custom installations.
  • Oversee and actively participate in the safe and efficient setup and installation of all decorative items at various venues.
  • Ensure all décor adheres to design specifications, timelines, and safety standards, maintaining high quality throughout.
  • Supervise junior decorators or assistants during setup, providing guidance and ensuring task completion.
  • Efficiently dismantle and pack away all decorative elements post-event, ensuring proper care and storage.
  • Manage inventory of décor items, performing regular checks and maintenance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, new materials, and design techniques.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communication throughout the event lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in event decorating or related creative design roles (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful event décor projects.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) for visualising concepts.
  • Excellent understanding of colour theory, spatial arrangement, and aesthetic principles.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for extended periods during event setup.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and ability to adapt to last-minute changes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in Event Management, Interior Design, Floral Design, or a related creative field.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of event types (weddings, corporate, private parties).
  • Knowledge of local Sheffield venues and suppliers.
  • Full UK driving license and access to reliable transportation for event logistics.
