Career.zycto is seeking a highly creative, organized, and experienced freelance Event Planner specializing in both wedding and corporate events to join our growing network of top-tier professionals in New Kingston, Kingston. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-driven individual who thrives on bringing clients’ visions to life, executing flawless events from conception to completion.

As a freelance Event Planner, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from elegant weddings and intimate celebrations to high-impact corporate conferences, product launches, and gala dinners. You will work closely with clients to understand their objectives, preferences, and budgets, developing bespoke event concepts that exceed expectations. Your role will encompass all aspects of event planning and execution, requiring meticulous attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure.

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful event delivery, a strong network of local vendors (caterers, decorators, photographers, venues, entertainers), and an in-depth understanding of current event trends and technologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to determine event objectives, themes, and budgets for weddings and corporate functions.
  • Develop comprehensive event proposals, including detailed timelines, venue options, vendor recommendations, and cost estimates.
  • Source, negotiate with, and manage a diverse range of vendors (e.g., caterers, florists, photographers, videographers, entertainers, AV technicians).
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including venue setup, transportation, accommodation, and guest management.
  • Create and manage event budgets, ensuring all expenses are tracked and kept within allocated limits.
  • Oversee on-site event execution, providing leadership and problem-solving to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Manage client communications, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, venues, and industry partners in New Kingston and surrounding areas.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback, and prepare reports to assess success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in event planning and management.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of proven experience in event planning, with a strong portfolio showcasing both wedding and corporate events.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong project management abilities, capable of handling multiple events simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools (e.g., planning software, budgeting tools, CRM).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • In-depth knowledge of local vendors, venues, and services in Kingston, Jamaica.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.

  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Certification in Event Management (e.g., CMP, CSEP).
  • Existing strong professional network within the Jamaican event industry.
  • Experience with luxury events or high-profile corporate clients.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, French) is a plus.
