Job Description

The Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD) is seeking dedicated and vigilant Exam Invigilators to join our team in Port Louis. This vital role is central to ensuring the smooth, fair, and secure administration of examinations, which are critical components of our vocational training and development programmes. As an Exam Invigilator, you will be on the front lines, helping to maintain an environment where all candidates can demonstrate their knowledge and skills without disruption or undue pressure. You will be responsible for overseeing examination sessions, ensuring strict adherence to examination rules and regulations, and providing a calm and supportive atmosphere for candidates while preventing any instances of malpractice. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms prior to the start of exams, ensuring all necessary materials (exam papers, answer booklets, stationery) are correctly distributed and candidate details are verified.
- Brief candidates on examination rules and regulations at the beginning of each session, clearly explaining permitted items, timing, and procedures.
- Actively supervise candidates throughout the examination to ensure that no cheating, disruptive behaviour, or unauthorized communication occurs.
- Respond to candidate queries regarding examination papers without providing assistance that could influence answers, escalating complex issues to the Chief Invigilator as needed.
- Manage and report any incidents of suspected malpractice, emergency situations, or other issues promptly and accurately according to established protocols.
- Ensure candidates adhere to the allocated time limits and announce the start and end of examination sessions clearly.
- Collect and collate all examination scripts and materials efficiently and securely at the end of the session, verifying counts against attendance registers.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding examination content and candidate information at all times.
- Assist with the seating arrangement of candidates, ensuring appropriate spacing and allocation based on examination requirements.
