Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate buses on assigned routes and schedules, particularly in the Plaine Verte and surrounding Port Louis areas.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations at all times, prioritizing passenger and public safety.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries, managing queues, and ensuring a comfortable journey.
- Collect fares and issue tickets accurately, managing cash and electronic payment systems efficiently.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical soundness, cleanliness, and report any defects promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bus interior throughout shifts.
- Manage unexpected situations, such as traffic delays, breakdowns, or passenger emergencies, with professionalism and calm.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding route status, delays, incidents, or any operational challenges.
Required Skills
- Valid Class B / Heavy Duty Vehicle Driving License (Mauritius) with relevant endorsements.
- Minimum 2 years of professional bus driving experience, preferably in public transport or passenger services.
- Excellent knowledge of Mauritian traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Port Louis, especially Plaine Verte routes and surrounding areas.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills in English and Mauritian Creole to interact effectively with passengers and colleagues.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational needs.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Customer-focused attitude, a patient demeanor, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or equivalent qualification in passenger transport.
- Experience with different types of bus models (e.g., standard, articulated, air-conditioned).
- First Aid certification or willingness to undergo training.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., French, Hindi, Bhojpuri) is an advantage.
