Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician with a strong focus on wiring, installation, and maintenance to join our dynamic team in Trianon, Quatre Bornes. This critical role involves working across various commercial, industrial, and residential properties managed or owned by Currimjee Jeewanjee & Co Ltd, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical systems. You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, installing new electrical systems, performing routine maintenance, diagnosing complex issues, and executing repairs in strict adherence to national electrical codes and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of electrical theory, practical experience with diverse electrical components, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code and local regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and other technical documents.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
- Liaise with other team members and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior electricians or apprentices.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of national electrical codes and safety standards.
- Proven ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair various electrical systems.
- Competence in using a wide range of hand and power tools associated with electrical work.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Physical fitness and dexterity to perform duties, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Valid driving license (Mauritius) and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or vocational certification in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
- Certification as a Licensed Electrician in Mauritius.
- Experience with industrial electrical systems and control panels.
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Prior experience working within a large commercial or industrial setting.
