Job Description
Masimba Holdings Limited is actively seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to enhance our dynamic team in Harare. This pivotal full-time role involves the expert operation of various heavy machinery crucial for our diverse construction and infrastructure projects, ranging from site preparation and excavation to road construction and material handling. The successful candidate will be responsible for not only the proficient operation but also the daily inspection and basic maintenance of assigned equipment, ensuring peak performance and adherence to stringent safety protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a diverse range of heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, compactors, rollers).
- Perform daily pre-operation checks, post-operation cleaning, and routine maintenance to ensure equipment readiness and longevity.
- Strictly adhere to all company and industry safety regulations, site-specific protocols, and operational guidelines.
- Interpret and execute instructions for excavation, grading, earthmoving, and material placement from site supervisors and engineers.
- Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or necessary repairs to the maintenance team.
- Assist with general site duties as required, contributing to overall project efficiency and progress.
- Ensure secure loading, unloading, and precise placement of materials on site.
- Communicate effectively with the site team, including other operators, foremen, and project managers, to maintain seamless operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) operating a variety of heavy construction equipment.
- Valid Class 2 Driver's License and relevant operator certifications (e.g., excavators, graders).
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment mechanics, controls, and basic troubleshooting.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and practices on construction sites.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of site layout, grading, and construction procedures.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certificate or diploma in plant operation, heavy equipment maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience with GPS-guided equipment systems for precision grading.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience working on large-scale civil engineering, road construction, or mining projects.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or construction drawings.
