Job Description
Volcano Express is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Panel Beater to join our dedicated maintenance team in Bugesera. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to play a critical role in maintaining the structural integrity and aesthetic appearance of our diverse fleet of buses. As an Experienced Panel Beater, you will be responsible for meticulously repairing and restoring vehicle bodywork, ensuring all repairs meet our stringent safety and quality standards. You will utilize your expertise in metalwork, welding, and various repair techniques to address damage ranging from minor dents and scratches to significant structural repairs following collisions. Your work will directly impact the reliability and presentation of our vehicles, contributing significantly to passenger safety and the company’s reputation. Key Responsibilities
- Assess vehicle body damage accurately and determine the appropriate repair methods.
- Perform skilled panel beating, dent removal, filling, and sanding to restore vehicle body panels.
- Execute various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Spot welding) on different materials.
- Repair and replace damaged structural sections, chassis components, and sub-assemblies.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment, including jigs, chassis alignment systems, and measuring tools.
- Ensure all repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and industry safety standards.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, including masking, priming, and final sanding.
- Collaborate effectively with paint technicians, mechanics, and other team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Document all repairs thoroughly, including parts used and labor hours.
- Stay updated with new vehicle technologies and repair techniques.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience as a Panel Beater or Body Repair Technician.
- Proficiency in advanced panel beating techniques, dent pulling, and body filler application.
- Expertise in various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Spot welding) and metal fabrication.
- Strong understanding of vehicle body construction, chassis alignment, and structural repair.
- Ability to operate and maintain a wide range of body shop tools and equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of automotive safety standards and workshop best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or certification in Automotive Body Repair or Panel Beating.
- Experience working with commercial vehicles or heavy-duty vehicles (buses).
- Familiarity with modern vehicle body materials and repair methods.
- Valid driver's license.
