Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present a variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, breads, and desserts, following established recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure all food preparation areas are clean, hygienic, and organized, adhering strictly to food safety regulations and company policies.
- Monitor food stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to minimize waste and ensure the availability of fresh ingredients.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and kitchen team to develop new menu items, specials, and refine existing recipes.
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food attractively before serving, ensuring visual appeal.
- Manage multiple orders simultaneously and maintain consistent food quality and timely service during peak hours.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Participate in daily kitchen cleaning tasks and uphold impeccable personal hygiene standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cook in an authentic Indian restaurant setting
- In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, cooking methods, and regional cuisines
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations (HACCP principles)
- Excellent knife skills and general kitchen proficiency
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or equivalent certification from a recognized institution
- Experience with various Indian cooking equipment, including tandoor ovens
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and cost control in a kitchen
- Fluency in English and/or French; local languages (e.g., Creole, Hindi) are a plus
