Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy and light-duty trucks for the transportation of goods, strictly adhering to load limits and safety protocols.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company policies, ensuring full compliance.
- Perform meticulous pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, logging any defects or issues promptly and accurately.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to designated locations, managing routes efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper securing and handling of cargo to prevent damage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, potential delays, or unforeseen circumstances.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical breakdowns immediately to relevant personnel.
- Keep the truck clean, well-maintained, and fueled, ensuring it is always ready for dispatch.
- Represent Career.zycto professionally at all times through safe driving practices and respectful interactions.
Required Skills
- Valid Kenyan Class BCE driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a truck driver, specifically within logistics and transport.
- Strong knowledge of Nairobi road networks, traffic patterns, and surrounding areas.
- Excellent defensive driving skills and an unwavering commitment to road safety.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Good physical condition and capability to lift heavy items or assist with manual loading/unloading when necessary.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues and clients.
- High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proficiency with GPS navigation systems and familiarity with route optimization software.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency procedures relevant to road transport.
