Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret cutting orders, patterns, and production specifications.
- Efficiently lay out various types of fabric to maximize yield and minimize waste.
- Operate and maintain a range of fabric cutting equipment, including manual knives, band saws, and automated cutting machines (e.g., Gerber, Lectra systems).
- Inspect fabric for flaws, imperfections, or variations before cutting.
- Sort, count, and bundle cut fabric pieces according to style, size, and quantity specifications.
- Perform routine quality checks on cut pieces to ensure adherence to pattern accuracy and dimensions.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe cutting room environment.
- Collaborate effectively with design, pattern making, and sewing departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or fabric quality issues to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a fabric cutting technician or similar role in garment manufacturing.
- Proficiency in operating various fabric cutting machinery (manual and automated).
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in cutting.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret complex patterns, markers, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of different fabric types, their properties, and handling techniques.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and waste optimization.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity for prolonged standing and operating machinery.
- Commitment to quality and efficiency in a production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in garment manufacturing, textile production, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD/CAM cutting systems (e.g., Gerber AccuMark, Lectra Modaris/Diamino).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to perform minor troubleshooting and basic maintenance on cutting equipment.
