Lesotho Milling Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Farm Manager to lead our agricultural operations in Ha Makhalanyane, Thaba-Tseka. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage daily farming activities, including crop rotation, planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting schedules.
- Supervise and train farm staff, ensuring efficient labor utilization and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage farm budgets, including procurement of seeds, fertilizers, machinery, and other agricultural inputs.
- Implement and monitor sustainable farming practices, soil health management, and water conservation strategies.
- Maintain and oversee the repair of farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Monitor crop health and identify potential issues, implementing timely and effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations, health, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate farm records, including production data, expenditures, and inventory.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of harvested crops to the milling facilities.
- Introduce and evaluate new agricultural technologies and methods to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Prepare regular reports on farm performance, challenges, and future plans for senior management.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in farm management, preferably with cereal crops (maize, wheat).
- Strong knowledge of agricultural science, agronomy, and modern farming techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in farm machinery operation and maintenance.
- Sound financial management and budgeting skills.
- Understanding of agricultural health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
