Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily farm operations, including planting, irrigation, cultivation, harvesting, and crop protection.
- Supervise, train, and motivate farm staff, ensuring efficient task allocation and adherence to work schedules.
- Monitor crop health, identify diseases or pests, and implement appropriate control measures.
- Manage and maintain farm machinery and equipment, ensuring regular servicing and operational readiness.
- Implement and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on the farm.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including yields, inputs, labor hours, and expenditures.
- Assist in budget planning and manage farm resources effectively to optimize productivity and profitability.
- Implement sustainable farming practices to promote soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity.
- Report regularly to management on farm performance, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in farm supervision or management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of crop production techniques, soil management, and pest/disease control.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and mentor staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and basic agricultural reporting.
- Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on farm machinery.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Experience with irrigation systems and water management.
- Knowledge of local agricultural regulations and market dynamics in Lesotho.
- Proficiency in relevant agricultural software or data management tools.
