You will be responsible for creating detailed sketches, mood boards, and technical drawings, communicating effectively with pattern makers, sample machinists, and manufacturers both domestically and internationally. Proficiency in design software is essential, enabling you to present your concepts with clarity and precision. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive trend research, market analysis, and competitive landscape studies to inform design concepts.
- Develop original design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and fabric selections for upcoming collections.
- Create detailed technical sketches, flat drawings (flats), and specifications for garment construction.
- Collaborate with pattern makers and sample room to develop prototypes, ensuring design intent and fit are met.
- Manage the design process from concept through to final production, including overseeing fittings and making necessary adjustments.
- Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and embellishments, negotiating with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with manufacturing partners, ensuring accurate interpretation of designs.
- Present seasonal collections and design concepts to internal stakeholders.
- Stay updated with industry innovations, sustainable practices, and emerging technologies in fashion design.
- Ensure all designs align with brand identity, target market preferences, and commercial objectives.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other relevant design software (e.g., CLO3D).
- Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and textile properties.
- Excellent sketching and illustration skills, both freehand and digital.
- Proven ability to conduct trend research and translate insights into commercial designs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Portfolio demonstrating a strong design aesthetic and technical proficiency.
