Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients according to recipes and standards.
- Portion and package food items accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper labeling and storage for freshness and inventory control.
- Assist cooks and other kitchen staff with various tasks to ensure smooth and timely meal production during peak hours.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, including cleaning utensils, equipment, and surfaces regularly throughout the shift.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety guidelines, health and safety regulations, and company policies, including proper handling of food and waste management.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and report shortages to the kitchen manager, assisting with stock rotation and receiving deliveries as needed.
- Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and effectively (e.g., slicers, choppers, mixers).
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Assist in dishwashing and general kitchen clean-up at the end of shifts or as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by kitchen management to support overall restaurant operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to work efficiently and quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (3-6 months) in a fast-food, restaurant, or commercial kitchen setting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
