Career.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Fiber Optics Installation Trainees in Silverspring, Saskatoon. As a trainee, you will work closely with experienced technicians, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior technicians with the installation, termination, and testing of fiber optic cables and related equipment.
  • Learn and practice safe work procedures, including the proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Help in preparing job sites, including setting up equipment, organizing tools, and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Participate in trenching, conduit installation, and pulling fiber optic cables through various conduits and pathways.
  • Observe and learn fusion splicing techniques, connector installation, and fiber optic cable management.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing fiber optic network issues under direct supervision.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced.
  • Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and practical skills through on-the-job training and assigned learning modules.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients as required.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Basic understanding of tools and comfort with manual labor.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent attendance record and punctuality.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (or equivalent in Saskatchewan).
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction, outdoor labor, or telecommunications-related field.
  • Any pre-employment safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Fall Protection).
  • Basic knowledge of electronics or networking concepts.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant technical field.
