Job Description

This is a critical role that will serve as the direct link between our mission and the communities we serve. As a Field Officer, Community Outreach at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in identifying community needs, building strong relationships with local leaders and residents, and implementing programs that align with our strategic objectives. Your work will involve extensive field visits, active listening, and the ability to adapt our approaches to suit diverse cultural contexts within the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport surrounding regions and beyond. This position demands a proactive individual who is passionate about social development, possesses excellent communication skills, and can effectively mobilize resources and volunteers. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular field visits to target communities around Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and Nairobi environs to identify needs and build relationships.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns on various development issues.
  • Mobilize community members and local stakeholders for participation in project activities.
  • Collect accurate data and feedback from the field to inform program planning and evaluation.
  • Prepare detailed field reports, activity plans, and progress updates for management.
  • Liaise effectively with local government authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations.
  • Assist in the identification, selection, and training of community volunteers.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient utilization of project resources.
  • Represent Career.zycto in community events and maintain a positive public image.
  • Contribute to the development of culturally appropriate communication materials.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in community mobilization and outreach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) in English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong understanding of community development principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in data collection and basic report writing.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Valid motorcycle riding license and ability to ride in challenging terrain (if applicable to field work).
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations in Kenya.
  • Familiarity with the specific cultural and socio-economic context of communities around Nairobi.
  • Proficiency in using basic office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • First Aid certification.
