Job Description

M-KOPA Solar is seeking a dedicated and proactive Field Service Technician to join our growing team in Nanyuki, Laikipia County. As a Field Service Technician, you will be the face of M-KOPA, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of our cutting-edge solar home systems and other products. You will travel to customer locations, diagnose technical issues, provide excellent customer service, and ensure our products consistently deliver value. Key Responsibilities
- Perform professional installation of M-KOPA solar home systems and other connected assets at customer premises.
- Conduct diagnostic tests and troubleshoot technical issues with M-KOPA products efficiently and effectively.
- Execute timely repairs and maintenance services, ensuring optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
- Provide clear, concise, and friendly guidance to customers on product usage, care, and basic troubleshooting.
- Manage and maintain accurate inventory of tools, spare parts, and equipment.
- Complete all necessary documentation and service reports accurately and promptly using designated mobile applications.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and quality standards during installations and service calls.
- Identify and escalate complex technical problems or persistent customer issues to the appropriate support channels.
- Represent M-KOPA professionally and uphold the company's brand image in all interactions.
Required Skills
- Proven technical aptitude with a strong understanding of electrical or electronic systems.
- Minimum of 1.5 years (18 months) of experience in a field service, installation, or technical support role.
- Valid motorcycle riding license (essential for field mobility) and a clean driving record.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical customers.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize service calls.
- Familiarity with mobile-based applications for reporting and job management.
- Customer-centric approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
- Previous experience with solar home systems or consumer electronics installation and repair.
- Knowledge of the Nanyuki area and surrounding regions.
- Ability to speak local languages in addition to English and Swahili.
