Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our growing finance team in Curepipe. This critical role is central to our accounting operations and financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information. As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for a broad spectrum of accounting duties, from daily transaction processing to the preparation of comprehensive financial statements and management reports. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining robust financial controls, reconciling accounts, and supporting the senior management with insightful financial analysis. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports for management review, highlighting key performance indicators and variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitoring actual performance against budgeted figures.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, assisting with VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory filings.
  • Conduct regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, ensuring data integrity and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data accuracy.
  • Support the finance team with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as required.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the finance department.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Finance Officer, Accountant, or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting (IFRS knowledge is a must).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Xero) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA) partly or fully completed.
  • Experience with an ERP system in a financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of Mauritian tax legislation and regulatory frameworks.
