Job Description

Are you a meticulous financial professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for accuracy? andBeyond Mnemba Island is seeking a dedicated and proactive Finance Reconciliation Clerk to join our vibrant team in this breathtaking island paradise. This critical full-time role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our financial records and ensuring smooth, transparent operations. As a Finance Reconciliation Clerk, you will be instrumental in processing and verifying financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and identifying discrepancies to ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date. You will work closely with various departments within the lodge and our regional finance team, playing a vital role in supporting the overall financial health and operational efficiency of andBeyond Mnemba Island. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank statements, credit card transactions, and various ledger accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare detailed reconciliation reports for review by senior finance management.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes by ensuring all accounts are reconciled and accurate.
  • Collaborate with various departments (e.g., Front Office, Food & Beverage, Procurement) to gather necessary financial data and resolve issues.
  • Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
  • Maintain organized and accessible financial records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures, as well as external regulations.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits as required.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in reconciliation activities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Finance Clerk, Reconciliation Clerk, or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reconciliation processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, advanced formulas).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Sage, QuickBooks).
  • Previous experience in the luxury hospitality or tourism industry.
  • Familiarity with Tanzanian financial regulations and tax requirements.
  • Ability to communicate in Swahili.
