Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and compassionate First Aider to join our client’s dedicated team in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica. This on-site role is critical for ensuring the immediate health and safety of all personnel and visitors within the facility. As a First Aider, you will be the primary point of contact for all medical emergencies and health-related incidents, providing prompt, effective, and professional care. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating a secure and supportive environment, where the well-being of every individual is paramount. Beyond emergency response, you will play a proactive role in maintaining safety standards, conducting regular checks of safety equipment, and educating staff on essential health protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate first aid treatment to injured or ill individuals in accordance with established protocols.
- Assess injuries and illnesses to determine the severity and necessity for further medical attention.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records of all incidents, treatments administered, and follow-ups.
- Ensure all first aid kits are fully stocked, organized, and readily accessible across various designated areas.
- Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and review of comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
- Participate actively in safety drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and relevant training sessions for staff.
- Liaise effectively with emergency medical services (EMS) when advanced medical care or transport is required.
- Educate employees on basic first aid practices, emergency response protocols, and general health awareness.
- Promote a robust culture of safety and health consciousness throughout the workplace, encouraging proactive engagement.
Required Skills
- Valid and current First Aid and CPR/AED certification from a recognized authority (e.g., Red Cross, St. John Ambulance).
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and effective when responding to emergency situations.
- Exceptional observational and assessment skills for quickly evaluating medical conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to interact clearly and empathetically with individuals in distress.
- Working knowledge of local health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion regarding medical information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH).
- Prior experience in a dedicated First Aider or similar health support role within an industrial, corporate, or public setting.
- Supplementary medical training such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Proficiency in utilizing incident reporting software and digital record-keeping systems.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and local Patois dialect) is considered an asset.
