Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Fisheries Technicians and Biologists with fieldwork, including fish sampling, habitat assessments, and water quality monitoring.
- Operate and maintain field equipment such as nets, electrofishing gear, GPS devices, and data loggers.
- Accurately collect, record, and organize field data according to established protocols.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and assist with basic lab procedures.
- Conduct routine equipment calibration, cleaning, and preventative maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and protocols during fieldwork and in the office/lab.
- Participate in data entry, basic report preparation, and quality control checks.
- Maintain clear communication with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and challenges.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning new techniques and methodologies in fisheries science.
