Job Description
Are you a morning person with an infectious passion for fitness, looking to inspire and guide individuals on their wellness journey? Better (GLL) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Fitness Trainer to join our dynamic team in Belfast. This unique opportunity focuses on morning shifts, playing a crucial role in setting a positive and energetic tone for our members’ days.
As a Fitness Trainer, you will be at the heart of our community, engaging directly with members to provide exceptional fitness experiences. You’ll be responsible for conducting comprehensive gym inductions, offering expert advice on exercise techniques, and designing personalised fitness programmes tailored to individual needs and goals. Your role extends beyond one-on-one interactions; you’ll also have the opportunity to lead small group exercise sessions or introductory classes, creating an inclusive and motivating atmosphere for diverse groups of people.

You will be instrumental in ensuring the gym floor is safe, clean, and well-maintained, constantly monitoring equipment and reporting any issues promptly. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and informative gym inductions and fitness assessments for new and existing members.
- Provide expert guidance and support on correct exercise techniques, equipment usage, and personalised fitness programs.
- Lead small group exercise sessions or introductory fitness classes as required, fostering a motivating environment.
- Actively engage with members on the gym floor, offering encouragement, answering questions, and building rapport.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organised gym environment, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
- Monitor gym equipment for functionality and cleanliness, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Promote Better’s programmes, services, and membership benefits to enhance member engagement and retention.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards, resolving member queries and concerns professionally.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in fitness and wellbeing.
- Contribute to the overall success and positive atmosphere of the leisure centre.
Required Skills
- Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification (minimum)
- Proven experience (12 months) working in a fitness or leisure environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanour
- Strong understanding of exercise principles, human anatomy, and fitness programming
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and build rapport with diverse groups of people
- Availability to work consistent part-time morning shifts
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification
- Additional specialist fitness qualifications (e.g., Group Exercise, Spin, Kettlebells)
- Experience with various client groups, including older adults or beginners
- Knowledge of nutrition and lifestyle coaching principles
