Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Fitter and Turner to join our precision engineering team in Aachen. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the accurate measurement, marking, fitting, and assembly of metallic parts to create complex machinery and components. You will interpret detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure all work adheres to stringent specifications and quality standards. This position demands a meticulous approach, a strong understanding of mechanical principles, and a commitment to producing high-quality output.

Your day-to-day will involve working with a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drilling machines, to shape and finish components. You will be instrumental in the fabrication, modification, and repair of machine parts, tooling, and fixtures. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces as guides for machining.
  • Operate conventional machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate and modify parts.
  • Perform precision fitting, assembly, and adjustment of components to meet strict tolerances.
  • Inspect finished parts for conformity to specifications, using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, callipers, gauges).
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
  • Fabricate, repair, and maintain jigs, fixtures, and other tooling as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Fitter and Turner or similar role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Expertise in operating conventional machine tools (lathes, milling machines, grinders).
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments and techniques.
  • Solid understanding of materials, machining processes, and mechanical principles.
  • Ability to perform precise fitting and assembly of mechanical components.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed vocational training or apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner, Machinist, or Industrial Mechanic.
  • Experience with CNC machines (programming or operation).
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques.
