Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and monitor daily fleet operations, including vehicle assignments, driver schedules, and route optimization.
- Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods by coordinating with drivers, clients, and internal departments.
- Track vehicle movements using GPS and telematics systems, providing real-time updates and resolving issues proactively.
- Manage vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and regularly serviced.
- Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle performance, and driver behavior to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Maintain accurate records of fleet activities, including mileage, maintenance logs, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant transportation laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Handle unexpected operational disruptions, such as breakdowns, accidents, or delays, by implementing swift and effective solutions.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and management regarding operational status and potential issues.
- Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, efficiency, and expenditure.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Fleet Controller, Dispatcher, or similar role in logistics.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, HGV operations, and logistics best practices.
- Proficiency in fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under pressure.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive, analytical approach to operational challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
