Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers and vehicles for deliveries and collections, ensuring optimal route planning and efficiency.
- Monitor fleet movements in real-time using GPS tracking systems and communicate effectively with drivers regarding schedules, routes, and potential issues.
- Respond promptly to driver queries, emergencies, and breakdowns, providing immediate support and alternative solutions.
- Maintain accurate logs of vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and driver hours of service to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding delivery statuses, potential delays, and service updates, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the preparation of daily dispatch reports, tracking key performance indicators and identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure all dispatch activities comply with company policies, safety regulations, and local transportation laws.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule vehicle servicing and repairs, minimizing downtime and maximizing fleet availability.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance dispatching skills and industry knowledge.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick decisions
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a logistics, transportation, or customer service role (even if not specifically dispatching)
- Familiarity with GPS tracking software or dispatching systems
- Knowledge of local geography and road networks in Port Louis and surrounding areas
- Fluency in both English and Mauritian Creole
