Based strategically near the iconic Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, this pivotal role places you at the heart of our operations, ensuring the seamless and safe movement of our safari vehicles and support fleet across Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes. As the Fleet Manager Transport Officer, you will be the guardian of our entire vehicle fleet, from 4×4 safari cruisers to logistical support vehicles. Your expertise will directly impact our guest experience, operational costs, and environmental footprint. This is not merely a logistical role; it’s a leadership position requiring a proactive individual with a deep understanding of vehicle mechanics, road safety regulations, and efficient resource allocation, all within the unique demands of the East African terrain. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust fleet management strategies that align with our sustainability goals and stringent safety standards. This includes overseeing preventative maintenance programs, managing fuel consumption, optimizing routes, and ensuring all vehicles are legally compliant and adventure-ready at all times.

Your responsibilities will extend to driver training, performance monitoring, and ensuring adherence to company policies and local traffic laws. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the entire company vehicle fleet, including safari vehicles, support trucks, and administrative cars.
- Develop, implement, and monitor fleet maintenance schedules to ensure optimal vehicle performance and longevity.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with relevant traffic laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards in Kenya.
- Oversee fuel management, consumption tracking, and cost control initiatives for the entire fleet.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of drivers, ensuring high standards of professionalism and safety.
- Implement and enforce strict vehicle operating policies and safety protocols.
- Manage vehicle licensing, insurance, and registration processes.
- Coordinate with workshop personnel for repairs, servicing, and spare parts procurement.
- Analyze fleet data to identify trends, optimize routes, and improve operational efficiency.
- Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, costs, and compliance.
- Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns or emergencies, coordinating recovery and alternative transport as needed.
- Develop and manage the fleet budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in fleet management and transport logistics, preferably in the tourism or hospitality sector.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, maintenance, and diagnostics (especially 4×4 vehicles).
- Thorough understanding of Kenyan traffic laws, transport regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in driver supervision and training.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Kenyan driving license with clean record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in Fleet Management or Transport Operations.
