Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee our transport operations based in Annotto Bay, Saint Mary Parish. This critical role involves managing our diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness across our extensive logistics network. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our fleet, from procurement and maintenance to dispatch and compliance, supporting the seamless flow of agricultural produce and other goods. You will lead a dedicated team of drivers and mechanics, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety first. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of transport logistics, vehicle maintenance, regulatory compliance, and personnel management within a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of the company's fleet of vehicles (trucks, vans, specialized agricultural transport).
  • Develop and implement efficient routing and scheduling strategies to optimize fuel consumption and delivery times.
  • Manage fleet budget, including fuel, maintenance, insurance, and procurement of new vehicles.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local and national transport regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of drivers and maintenance personnel.
  • Implement and manage vehicle tracking systems and telematics to monitor performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Manage vehicle registrations, licensing, and insurance policies.
  • Negotiate with vendors and service providers for vehicle parts, fuel, and maintenance services.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on fleet performance, costs, and efficiency metrics.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and any non-compliance issues.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or in a similar transport management role.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and tracking systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of transport regulations and safety standards in Jamaica.
  • Budget management and cost control expertise.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Valid General Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in Fleet Management (e.g., NAFA, CILT).
  • Experience with agricultural logistics and perishable goods transport.
  • Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices in fleet operations.
