Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and highly organized Fleet Manager to take charge of our vehicle maintenance programs and optimize staff scheduling in Plymouth, England. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for the entire fleet.
- Coordinate and schedule all vehicle repairs, servicing, and inspections, minimizing downtime.
- Manage vehicle registrations, insurance, and compliance with all relevant transport legislation (e.g., O licence, Driver CPC, tachographs).
- Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and operational costs, identifying areas for efficiency improvements.
- Negotiate and manage relationships with external suppliers, garages, and service providers.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate fleet staff and drivers, fostering a culture of safety and professionalism.
- Design and manage complex staff scheduling and rotas to ensure optimal operational coverage and resource utilization.
- Monitor staff attendance, manage holiday requests, and plan for sickness cover efficiently.
- Ensure all staff adhere to company policies, health & safety regulations, and driving standards.
- Prepare and manage the fleet budget, tracking expenditures and reporting on financial performance.
- Implement and maintain robust inventory control for parts and supplies.
- Conduct regular fleet audits and risk assessments.
- Utilize fleet management software for tracking, reporting, and analysis.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or similar role in a busy operational environment.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance schedules, and diagnostic procedures.
- Demonstrable experience in staff scheduling, resource allocation, and team management.
- Excellent knowledge of transport legislation, health & safety regulations (e.g., PUWER, LOLER), and environmental standards relevant to fleet operations in the UK.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Budget management and cost control expertise.
- Full UK Driving Licence (HGV licence preferred but not essential).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification in Transport Management (e.g., CPC – Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Vocational qualification in Vehicle Maintenance or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience with telematics systems and GPS tracking for fleet optimization.
